I dont bother much with my views on the art world. but today for some weird reason ( maybe its the heat) I felt like getting on the soap box.

So your an artist trying to make it in the Art world, and you study, and you go reach out and network, mingle with other artist and meet curators and such..get your work published..and yet. you see some crap art work out there that sells for thousands and even millions. What is it your doing wrong, why the hell some of these hack artist make crazy amounts of loot with work that seem to be slapped together over night in some drunken rage...well...it comes down to basically one thing..who's dick you are riding..sorry ..who you know!

I ve been one to work my craft and skills to the point where people are just shocked and amazed, but even I have my moments like..wtf, how come I aint rich yet!!!!..

I got a good look at the inner workings of the art world these past few days, the stuff your dont see...warehouses of art work that bounces from one end of wow to the other end of ... oh god..burn it!.

The folks purchasing these things?...filthy rich be on belief.

But it isn't so much for the appreciation of the work rather than..something they can hang up and brag about.

which brings me back to why the fuck, bother doing it...at least for me..its the love of the craft..Id rather sit in my room and just paint things that will make people go," damn..or awwwe".. any reaction...to me its some sort of success...but business wise...its a handicap..

Part of that reason is why I do more than just paint tits and ass's..I can do other things..such as photography, sculpting, digital graphics and so on..Arm your self for this world, would be artist... its a strange one..pick your grounds, then attack!

the more your know how things operate in the world, the better off you will be!

So a few days ago..what I thought was a client...reached out to me when he found me on #thumbtack a website that caters to artist. The guy gave me a sob story about being in a hospital as a cancer victim, and that he was moving out of the U.S. and wanted to get his wife a birthday gift for their anniversary. yada yada yada.... he sends me a check I got the check with in a few days of sealing the deal...Fedex- ed to my house! I  was rushing to get to the bank before it closed (Saturday) but something seemed off once I opened the package. 1st. red flag ....was the name of the check...the check was under a different name!. I thought maybe it was the guys assistant which he did mention was going to handle his affairs , (since he was in the hospital..) 2nd. red flag was the check paper it self.. The Process of my Paintings [SNEAK PEEK]

I am often asked what some of my creative processes are when creating a piece. Today, I wanted to share with you one of the ways I create my art. I was recently commissioned by a client to do a fantasy based piece as gift to her loved one. She indicated she wanted to be sexy and a white tiger had to be involved. Once I received her requests, I sent her a sketch to give her an over all idea of what she was looking for. For this particular piece, I decided to make her outfit, a cat suit, the same white tiger print as the animal included in the painting. Oftentimes, I exaggerate body types to either hide what the client wants to hide or create shapes and sensuality that is either not enough or not at all. This particular client, though quite shapely, emphasized in her request her desire to look sexier than she normally is, so I enhanced her best asset. The Process of My paintings:Part II: The Finished Product [SNEAK PEEK]

As mentioned in the previous posting, the last step of my creative process is the oil based painting.   I like to use alkyd paint medium mainly because of its thickness and drying time. The word "alkyd" actually refers to the synthetic resin used as a binder in the paint. This particular type of paint medium is resistant to wear and tear and also dries a little slower than most paints so that I can go back and adjust or rework if necessary. I can also thin the paint out if need be to garner different coloring and shading in the piece. As far as brushes go, I use a lot of different brushes, favoring the round tips more than any other. The brands of brushes I choose tend to be all over the place and I mostly use synthetics because they last a long time and are also cheaper.  Everyone can stand to save a few bucks, right?
